Dewey and Russell - a debate about learning

My first venture into my own defining of this topic had to do finding a title for this blog which led to exploring the positions or 2 writers who were known to me, and my practice, but whose thoughts I wanted to compare. Even looking at the words 'practice knowledge' or 'practical knowledge' or 'scientific truth' leads to several pathways of thought and a history of debate from the past that is not easily unthreaded.

I have read both but was not aware of the debates and think they could be a place to start exploring this area of practice so important now in university approaches to professional practice.

A number of Dewey's books are available on the Project Gutenburg, I looked at Experimental Logic.

Bertrand Russell wrote many books over a wide area

I first read Religion and Science, but also am now looking at other writing such as The Problems of Philosophy

The debates between the 2 (and others) have been a subject of interest for some time...

I will continue this discussion in my next blog and look more specifically about the debate in terms of education.
